Basic Policy on the Environment

TRE HOLDINGS CORPORATION and its affiliated companies ("the TRE Group"), which operate a Waste Treatment & Recycling Business, a Resource Recycling Business, a Renewable Energy Business, and other environment-related businesses, are committed to proactively working toward conservation of the global environment and reduction of environmental impact in order to realize a future in which both companies and society can achieve sustainable growth.

1. Contributing the creation of an efficient recycling society

We will strive to contribute to the creation of an efficient recycling society through our business activities by further enhancing the TRE Group's technologies and combining the strengths of our respective Group companies to provide environmentally friendly products and services.

2. Striving to create a carbon-neutral society

In addition to ensuring thorough energy conservation throughout our business activities, we aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to climate change mitigation by creating renewable energy sources using natural and biomass resources in order to help create a carbon-neutral society.

3. Promoting environmental initiatives that are rooted in local communities and society

As a comprehensive environmental management company, we are dedicated not only to preventing environmental pollution in our business activities, but also to proactively protecting and preserving the natural environment in order to coexist in harmony with nature and the ecosystems of the regions in which we operate.

4. Enhancing framework for advancing environmental initiatives

In addition to complying with all environment-related laws and regulations, our officers and employees will practice Sustainability Management by pursuing continuous improvement based on careful consideration of environmental issues.

Policy on Human Rights

In order to pursue our commitment to respect human rights as prescribed in the TRE Group Corporate Code of Conduct, the TRE Group sets out this policy to assist us in fulfilling our responsibility to respect human rights by ensuring that we do not violate human rights and that we minimize any adverse impacts on human rights that may arise through our business activities.

1. Basic stance on respect for human rights

The TRE Group supports and respects the UN International Bill of Human Rights, which consists of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenants on Human Rights. We also support the International Labour Organization (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, which prescribes the freedom of association and the recognition of the right to collective bargaining, elimination of forced labor, abolition of child labor, and the elimination of discrimination.
We also follow the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and other such guidelines as we formulate human rights policy and pursue endeavors to respect human rights.

2. Compliance with applicable laws and regulations

We comply with the laws and regulations applicable in the countries and regions where we operate our business.
In the event that the laws and regulations of a country or region are inconsistent with internationally recognized human rights, we will seek ways to respect international human rights to the greatest extent possible.

3. Scope of application

This policy applies to all directors, officers, employees, temporary agency workers, and any other such persons engaged by the TRE Group. We also expect our business partners, suppliers, and any other persons concerned to understand and support this policy.

4. Respect for human rights

 

The TRE Group seeks to address the following areas that we have identified as requiring a particular commitment to addressing human rights issues:

 

(1) Elimination of discrimination
We respect the fundamental human rights, personality, individuality, and diversity of all directors, officers, employees, and any other persons concerned, and prohibit discrimination on such grounds as race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, social status, gender, age, disabilities, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

 

(2) Harassment
We do not speak or behave in a way that may hurt another person, or otherwise engage in any form of harassment, whether mental or physical.

 

(3) Child labor and forced labor
We do not use child labor or forced labor, and do not tolerate human trafficking or any other form of modern slavery.

 

(4) Occupational health and safety
We seek to ensure safety at our worksites and workplaces by respecting the laws, regulations, and rules on workplace hygiene and safety and confirming their enforcement to create safe and healthy workplace environments.

 

(5) Working hours and wages
We comply with all laws and regulations regarding working hours and wages applicable in the countries and regions where we conduct business activities.

 

(6) Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
We respect our employees' right to freely associate and their right to collective bargaining, and our management and employees develop a positive relationship through discussions.

 

(7) Harmony with local communities
We respect and consider the rights of the residents of the communities where we conduct business activities, including property rights, the right of access to water, the right to health, and the rights of indigenous people . We endeavor to contribute to a sustainable society by fulfilling our responsibilities toward human rights in the local communities where we conduct business activities.

5. Human rights due diligence

 

In order to minimize adverse impacts on human rights, the TRE Group has established a system for human rights due diligence and will endeavor to make the system increasingly effective by continuously addressing problems.

6. Remediation

 

In the event that the business activities of the TRE Group are found to have caused or contributed to a human rights violation, we will endeavor to provide access to remedy. We also establish points of contact for those affected by a human rights violation to report such grievances and will develop these points of contact as necessary in order to ensure they are effective.

7. Education

 

The TRE Group will ensure that this policy is reflected in relevant Group policies and procedures and will provide the education necessary for all directors, officers, employees, temporary agency workers and any other such persons engaged by the TRE Group to acquire the knowledge and competency required to respect human rights.

8. Dialogue and discussion with stakeholders

 

In addition to utilizing specialized knowledge from external sources, the TRE Group engages in dialogue and discussion with its stakeholders as we pursue the commitments set out in this policy.

9. Disclosure of information

 

The TRE Group discloses information on its endeavors regarding respect for human rights and the progress of such endeavors on the TRE HOLDINGS website and through other such means as appropriate.

Basic Policy on Health and Safety

Principle

The TRE Group places top priority on safety.
All directors, officers, employees, temporary agency workers and any other such persons engaged by the TRE Group shall place the highest priority on mitigating risk in order to ensure occupational and operational safety.

Basic policy

We define our basic policy on mitigating risk with the aim of ensuring an accident-free and disaster-free workplace as follows:
 1. We will create a safe and hygienic working environment by observing laws, regulations, internal rules, and other such provisions.
 2. We will learn safe procedures and techniques by striving to improve our expertise and to ensure that it is passed on.
 3. We will take health and safety measures before the fact by ascertaining the dangers or hazards that the work may entail before commencing .

Basic Policy on Anti-Bribery Measures

In order to pursue our commitment to compete fairly as prescribed in the TRE Group Corporate Code of Conduct, the TRE Group sets out this policy to prohibit involvement in bribery and other forms of corruption. Its objective is to ensure healthy and sound relations with all third parties and practice fair and transparent competition in accordance with social ethics, while observing the laws and regulations of the countries and regions where we operate our business and the internal rules and other such provisions of each Group company.

1. Scope of application

This policy applies to all directors, officers, employees, temporary agency workers and any other such persons engaged by the TRE Group. We also expect our business partners, suppliers, and any other persons concerned to understand and support this policy.

2. Prohibition of bribery and other forms of corruption

The TRE Group will observe the following commitments to preventing bribery and other forms of corruption:

 

(1) Prohibition of bribery and other forms of corruption
It is prohibited to offer, promise, or provide any bribe to any person or to demand, accept the promise of, or receive any bribe from any person, either directly or indirectly, or otherwise engage in an act that falls under bribery or other forms of corruption.(※1)
※1 "Bribery or other forms of corruption" refers to any acts to obtain or seek to obtain improper or inappropriate benefits through the misuse of authority. These include bribery; providing and receiving inappropriate sums of money (including the improper receipt of rebates and kickbacks); providing and receiving excessive entertainment or gifts; rigging, collusion, or other forms of unfair competition; extortion, and money laundering.

 

(2) Prohibition of entertainment or gifts to public officials
It is prohibited to provide entertainment or gifts to a public officials, etc.,(※2)provided, however, that in exceptional cases entertainment or gifts that are within the bounds of common sense and appropriate according to social convention may be provided following an appropriate process to approve them.
※2 "Public officials, etc." refers to a local or national government official, a member of an assembly or committee, or other employee in Japan or any other nation who is engaged in the performance of public duties in accordance with laws and regulations.

 

(3) Building sound business relationships
Business initiatives and transactions shall be conducted only with third parties that are lawful, transparent, and under no suspicion of bribery or other forms of corruption.

 

(4) Implementation of education and training
This policy and other such regulations shall be shared with all directors, officers, employees, temporary agency workers and any other such persons engaged by the TRE Group, and education and training shall be provided as required, for the purpose of ensuring the further spread of moral awareness of the need to prevent bribery and other forms of corruption and maintaining and improving the framework for preventing corruption.

 

(5) Thoroughness in transaction record management
Accurate books for all transactions conducted by the TRE Group shall be prepared in reasonable detail and records shall be maintained, in accordance with laws and regulations and the internal rules and other such provisions of each Group company.

 

(6) Framework for prevention of bribery and other forms of corruption
The TRE Group shall maintain and operate an organizational framework for the prevention of bribery and other forms of corruption, by striving to ensure the fair and appropriate operation of our departments responsible for compliance and internal points of contact for reporting such issues. In the event of a suspected violation of the legal provisions and the regulations and other such rules of Group companies regarding bribery and other forms of corruption , prompt and appropriate steps shall be taken in accordance with internal rules.
